ARTIST BIO:

Camille Benarab-Lopez explores our relationship to images through a body of work, as much pictorial as sculptural, made from collected visuals and combined techniques. Her work reveals a potential dialogue contained within the multiple preexisting images, whose scattering is maintained by correspondences and dissonances, thus offering the spectator a space to invest.

After studying textile design and modern literature, Camille graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Paris (Printed Image Section) in 2014, and from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris in 2018. She also spent six months as an exchange student at the University of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan, and was in residency at the Casa de Velazquez in Madrid (2014), and at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2020).

She is the laureate of the ICART Artistik Rezo Prize (2020), as well as of the FoRTE grant (2021), which allowed her to devote a year to a research and creation project based on family archives, which resulted in an art book (100 copies) and an exhibition at the FRAC Les Réserves d’Île-de-France. She also took part in the 71st edition of Jeune Création (2021). In 2021, with GALERIE CHLOE SALGADO, she presented her first solo exhibition Peines Perdues,
and presented a solo booth, Les jours avenir, in the experimental photography fair APPROCHE (Paris). These two projects received the support of the CNAP (Centre National des Arts Plastiques).
