ARTIST BIO:

Ignacio García Sánchez (Madrid, 1987) studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg.

He explores visual languages based mainly on drawing and formal resources taken from fields such as architecture, textbook illustration, archaeology or political propaganda. A series of recurring topics run through his work: the contradictions between theory and practice, the decisive influence of abstract ideas on concrete social transformation processes, the relations of power with the historical past and how this is reinterpreted to legitimize the present.
